Dr Fahim Anwar is a Neuro Rehabilitation Consultant based in Cambridge. He completed his training in rehabilitation medicine from Glasgow in 2011 and completed a one-year fellowship in chronic pain management before moving to Cambridge in 2012. He has vast experience in all aspects of neuro rehabilitation. His areas of special interest includes complex spasticity and posture management (including ultrasound guided botulinum toxin injections and phenol nerve blocks), traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, chronic neuropathic pain and musculoskeletal consequences of neurological diseases. He is registered with the GMC.
Ripu qualified in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and completed a Masters of Physiotherapy in Adult Neurosciences in 2000. He has 15 years of extensive experience in Neurology with the NHS and Private Practice. He has led the NHS Community team and presently works as a Senior Neuro Physiotherapist in the Multidisciplinary Neuro rehabilitation team. Ripu is passionate about treating a wide range of Neurological conditions and is skilled in managing complex rehabilitation needs and providing long-term rehabilitation. His special interests include Parkinson's disease, Upper Limb Rehabilitation in Stroke, Spasticity management, Balance disorders and Traumatic Brain Injuries. Ripu is a member of the HCPC, ACPIN and is registered with the CSP.
Sarah graduated in 1996 from Brunel University College, and has extensive specialist experience in the NHS, privately and abroad. She has worked in the top London Hospitals including Great Ormond Street, The Royal Brompton and St Marys. She draws on her wealth of experience, knowledge and skills in both Paediatrics and Adults to maximise functional potential of all her patients! She is a Chartered CSP physiotherapist, Bobath and Prechtl trained, HCPC registered and a qualified APPI Pilates Instructor. In her spare time she enjoys wild swimming, running and sailing!
Abi is a registered HCPC and RCOT Occupational Therapist, who demonstrates an empathetic and holistic approach to her practise in supporting her patients to achieve their potential. With many years experience of neuro rehabilitation, she has developed a particular interest in fatigue management, Upper Limb Rehab and supporting patients in their workplace. Abi values multi disciplinary team working in achieving the very best for her patients and with her knowledge of human performance is able to empower people along their rehab journey to achieve their goals.
Susan came from an academic background in research/lecturing in linguistics and phonetics (London, City Universities), taking a qualification in Speech and Language Therapy in 1993 to enable clinical practice. In 1994 she moved to Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge to become the specialist SLT in communication therapy post stroke/neurological impairment. Susan specialises in working with adults with aphasia (difficulties in finding words, constructing sentences, understanding spoken or written language and spelling), with cognitive communication disorders (thinking for and appropriate use of language), and with dysarthria/dysphonia (speech/voice/articulation impairments), and has worked in the range of settings from acute wards, rehab and outpatient clinics through to community services. With a personal interest in the emerging neuro-scientific findings in brain/mind/ language functioning, and using these to underpin her therapeutic approaches, she enjoys working with people to help support everyday communication, or on specific activities/ projects on request. She is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and HCPC.
